About Us

SJO is owned by husband and wife, Michael "Mike" and Samantha "Sam" Wells. They are long time residents of San Juan County, New Mexico, which is home and near to some world class hunting and fishing.  SJO is a home-based FFL and Gunsmithing shop that has been open since January 2019. We specialize primarily in gunsmithing repairs, but facilitate FFL and SOT transfers, along with laser engraving services. We pride ourselves on being a "one stop shop" when it comes to SOT transfers as we complete the fingerprinting digitally in house, and complete all paperwork with the customer. We are also able to ensure that the suppressor is fit correctly, including threading barrels if needed. All of this at an affordable cost with superior customer service, which is the main tenet of our business model. 

Sam is a dedicated 16 year tenured Physical Therapist Assistant. Sam graduated from Modern Gun School with her Advanced Gunsmithing Certificate in 2024, with honors.

Mike is a 20 year veteran of public safety including Firefighting, Paramedic, and an active Police Sergeant for a local Police Department.  Mike graduated from Sonoran Desert Institute with his associates degree in Firearms Technology, graduating Summa Cum Laude, in June 2025 after receiving a full ride scholarship from the Paul Jackson Memorial Scholarship Foundation.
